In January 2022, my daughter began having huge melt downs at home. She also suddenly said she hated school and never wanted to go again. We knew it wasn’t a social issue because all her best friends were in her class this year. I didn’t know if she was having anxiety, if she truly was just bored, or what to do about it. She had never acted like this before and has always been the kid who went running into school every day. Soon after, my son began having similar issues. I thought he was just copying his sister at first, but the meltdowns were EPIC! It didn’t think traditional therapy was the answer, but I knew they needed something. Luckily, I ran across Sarah’s Facebook page, Confident Kids International. I started reading and thinking, WOW! I think this is it! I think my kids may be gifted and aren’t getting what they need at school, and they don’t know how to tell me. I reached out to Sarah, and we set up a meeting. I was definitely nervous about this. Meeting someone I don’t know online to get help with my kids’ meltdowns and behavioral issues felt a little strange. Once we met with Sarah, we realized we were just where we needed to be. This was our answer!
Sarah helped us understand our children’s gifted abilities and the special challenges they can bring. She helped us navigate and advocate with our school district for gifted services for our daughter and accelerated math for our twin boys. She met with our kids weekly and did fun activities with them that challenged them socially and emotionally, and we were able to use that information to continue helping them at home. Our kids loved joining the sessions each week. We also met with her weekly to discuss the sessions with the kids and talk about strategies for working with them moving forward. My kids now have a toolbox full of skills they can use to help them with feelings that are overwhelming and give the confidence when they are feeling nervous. Not only that, but Sarah taught us so much about gifted services and how to help advocate for our kids moving forward in school. She was just what we needed, and she came into our lives at just the right time! Our kids are thriving emotionally and intellectually thanks to her help!
